This authentically detailed replica costume brings to life one of America’s most prominent abolitionists and women’s rights activists, Sojourner Truth. Truth was born into slavery as Isabella “Bell” Baumfree; it wasn’t until later, in 1943, that she gave herself the name “Sojourner Truth.” In 1826 Truth escaped slavery with her infant daughter, after which she went to court to recover her son. She became the first black woman to win such a case against a white man. Later she helped recruit black troops for the Union, though Truth is best known today for her speech on gender inequality, titled “Aint’ I A Woman?”, which was delivered extemporaneously in 1851 at the Ohio Women’s Rights Convention.

We have recreated the iconic look of one of America’s most well-known abolitionists and African American historical figures with a superior poly-cotton blend fabric that retains quality while being easy to clean. The dress has a simple babylock hem at the bottom to allow easy adjustment for height and a zipper in the back. Shawl and headscarf are made from cotton fabric.

The owner policy is once it shipped its on you! If you pay for priority which is 48$ it’s still on you if it gets lost! No refund only store credit! If you send the costume back? How can you send something back if you never received the item! Just saying!but Etsy customer service has your back and will help you!
